  • Analog IC Design Bootcamp

    The Analog IC Design Bootcamp, conducted from April 11 to April 13 (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM IST) by the eSim (FOSSEE, IIT Bombay) team under the IEEE Open Silicon Initiative in collaboration with Navia Labs, introduced participants to the complete open-source analog IC design flow through hands-on sessions covering schematic design and simulation (April 11), physical layout and DRC (April 12), and verification and sign-off (April 13); guided by guest speaker Vipul Sharma, the program emphasized practical learning and promoted open-source IC design, enabling students to gain real-world exposure and move toward building and fabricating their own silicon designs.

  • eSim Hands-on Workshop in Collaboration with PGCA, IIT Bombay

    The eSim Team, in collaboration with PGCA, IIT Bombay, conducted a Hands-on Workshop on the Open Source EDA Tool eSim at LC002 on 18th March 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, led by Mr. Sumanto Kar, IIT Bombay alumnus and Assistant Project Manager at FOSSEE. The session was coordinated by Research Assistants Mr. Varad Patil and Ms. Shanthi Priya from the eSim Team at FOSSEE, IIT Bombay.

    The workshop provided practical exposure to electronic circuit design and SPICE-based simulation through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises. It witnessed active participation from B.Tech (UG), Master’s, and PhD students from IIT and other institutes, along with staff members, including international attendees from Myanmar. The session was highly interactive, with queries and doubts effectively addressed, making it an engaging and impactful learning experience for all participants.

  • eSim Camp at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru
    Date: 28/02/2026
    The eSim Research Migration Camp was conducted by the eSim Team, for the invited institution,Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru. The session was delivered simultaneously across four classrooms, reaching approximately 200 attendees including coordinators, class teachers, faculty members and staff. The primary speaker, Shri. Varad Patil, conducted a detailed discussion on the eSim Research Migration Project, provided practical exposure to the eSim software, explained internship opportunities and actively engaged in doubt solving sessions to clarify participants queries. The valuable presence and support of Mr. Sumanto Kar and Ms. Shanthi Priya were sincerely acknowledged. Special thanks were extended to the Faculty Convener, Dr. Anush Bekal, Professor & Head, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, for his presence and for hosting the program, along with appreciation to all class coordinators for effectively managing the session across the four classrooms.

  • eSim Team Visits IIT Guwahati and IIIT Guwahati

    During the recent visit of the eSim team to IIT Guwahati and IIIT Guwahati, Mr. Sumanto Kar discussed meaningful academic and technical interactions focused on the growing importance of eSim software in the education and research ecosystem.

    During talk, Mr. Sumanto Kar elaborated on the significance of eSim EDA (Electronic Design Automation) as a powerful open source platform that supports circuit design, simulation, and hands-on learning. He explained how eSim EDA aligns with the FOSSEE vision by providing students and educators with a robust, cost-effective tool for electronics design and experimentation without reliance on proprietary systems.

    The discussions further explored how integrating eSim EDA within academic curricula can strengthen practical learning, enable research driven projects and foster collaboration between institutions and industry. The interactive sessions encouraged students and faculty to adopt open-source technologies, reinforcing the importance of self-reliant and innovation driven education ecosystems.

    The visit by Mr. Sumanto Kar behalf of eSim team strengthened academic industry collaboration and opened new avenues for integrating advanced eSim software solutions within premier institutions like IIT Guwahati and IIIT Guwahati.

  • MIT World Peace University DevConf 2026 in Pune

    At MIT World Peace University DevConf 2026 in Pune, Mr. Sumanto Kar from the FOSSEE project at IIT Bombay delivered a session titled eSim: Building an Open-Source EDA Ecosystem for Edu, R&D, and Community Innovation. The talk introduced eSim as a fully open-source Electronic Design Automation (EDA) toolchain for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit simulation, built on established FOSS tools such as ngspice, KiCad, GHDL, and Verilator. He presented a technical overview of eSim’s architecture, simulation workflows, portability across environments, and its evolving AI-assisted capabilities aimed at improving usability and debugging. The session also highlighted how open-source EDA tools can support education, research, and community driven innovation, while aligning with national initiatives such as the Indian Semiconductor Mission and broader open digital infrastructure efforts.
