Semiconductor Career Awareness and Opportunities

Mr. Sumanto Kar, Assistant Project Manager at FOSSEE, IIT Bombay, was invited as a speaker for the “Semiconductor Career Awareness and Opportunities” session held on 26th October 2025 (Sunday) from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the EEGG Conference Room, Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay. The event, jointly organized by IIT Bombay and SemiX, aimed to connect classroom learning with real-world applications in the fast-growing semiconductor industry.

Mr. Sumanto shared insights on open-source tools and initiatives under FOSSEE, highlighting how platforms like eSim enable students and researchers to explore circuit design and simulation. Other speakers included Vipin Madangarli (SemiX IIT Bombay Fellow; Former Director & India Site CTO, GlobalFoundries), Prof. Saurabh Lodha (P.K. Kelkar Chair Professor, IIT–OSU Frontier Research Center), and Karthik UC (HackerFab, IIT Bombay). The session offered valuable guidance on research, internships, and career opportunities in the semiconductor domain.
